OMAX® Motorized Z-Axis

Motorized Z-Axis spec sheet (PDF) [40 Kb]

The electrically operated OMAX Motorized Z-axis provides precise nozzle positioning. The powerful combination of the Motorized Z-Axis and the Precision Optical Locator provides precision JetMachining of pre-machined parts, such as die-stripper plates.

Standard Features
  • 8 3/4” Travel in Z direction
  • Controller pre-programmable, automatic stand-off distance to insure proper nozzle height off of work piece
  • Jog up/down at user settable speeds and distance
  • Manual controls to move specific amounts
  • Heads-up traversing to avoid obstacles
  • “Move all up” command to quickly move nozzle out of the way after a tool path has completed
  • Can be pre-programmed using OMAX 3-D Path Editor Software to follow vertical contours of parts and avoid obstacles. Maximum programmable slope is 60 degrees when contour following.
  • Can be programmed by most other CAD/CAM software through custom post processor
Video of the Motorized Z-Axis in action

The following video shows the motorized Z-axis making a three-dimensional path by following the contour of some pre-bent sheet metal. The video opens in a separate window. If no window appears when you click on the button, please disable your pop-up blocking software.

56K Version

Recommended for dial-up connections.

DSL/Cable Version
Recommended for broadband connections, such as DSL, cable modems or ISDN lines.

Programmable with the 3D Path Editor

The Motorized Z-Axis is programmable using the OMAX 3D Path Editor to modify tool paths to add up/down motion (motion in the X-axis). This lets you create tool paths for materials with non-flat surfaces, or surface features that the nozzle needs to avoid.
